Universal Sensors Limited is pushing the boundaries of detection technology.

Developing an integrated potentiometric biosensor platform for contaminants, toxins and disease markers in complex aqueous based samples.

Universal Sensors Limited is contracted to Sensortec Limited for the development and commercialisation of the Sensortec IP for use in the environmental testing and food quality assurance sectors. A project has also been undertaken to develop a multianalyte POU system for the clinical and veterinary diagnostics market.

Universal Sensors Limited's aim is to produce an instrument suitable for analytical/diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, food processing factories, produce collection and environmental measuring stations, on an international basis. To this end a 12 channel manual biosensor system will be available by July 2006. (link to product page)

Universal Sensors Limited is seeking active collaborations and partnerships to help develop the system as well as the markets. In addition we are seeking providers of niche assays to apply to our system.

Recent milestones:

  • Contracted to develop sensors and integration for a POC multianalyte device
  • Expanded the biochemical analytical capability of the sensor too enzyme substrates and ions
  • Microfluidics system being designed and tested
  • less than 25ppt (70pM) detection of a Aflatoxin M1 in whole milk without sample preparation, in less than 15 minutes.
  • In-house sensor production launched
  • Many immunoassays (for large and small analytes) have been successfully transferred providing faster more sensitive assays requiring less sample preparation if at all.
  • Pre-production multisensor/multianalyte detection system available as a demonstrator.
